Early Bird Breakfast Meeting and Golf Scramble

 


On May 13 th the Elizabethtown Rotary Club held a golf scramble to raise funds for the various community service projects in which the club is involved. As part of the activities that day, a joint breakfast meeting was held with the Hardin County Rotary Club at the Elizabethtown Country Club. Breakfast was at 7:00 and the scramble had a shot-gun start at 9:00. Approximately $7000 was raised with the golf scramble.

100th Anniversary of Rotary International
 


On February 28 th the Elizabethtown Rotary Club and the Hardin County Rotary Club hosted a dinner for Rotarians in celebration of the 100 th Anniversary of Rotary International. The Elizabethtown Club was also marking its 70 th year of service to the Elizabethtown Community. The dinner and entertainment were held at the Historic State Theater.

Kevin Addington presented Ron Ortiz the
club's International Service Award in October, 2004. Rotarian Ortiz had recently returned from serving in the military in Iraq and while there had lead his unit to do several humanitarian service projects for
the Iraq people.

       
 

On January 18 th Brittany Johnson, a Senior at John Hardin High, was selected as the Club's 2005 Rotary Speech contest winner and representative to the Area Speech
Contest in February.

       
 

Brice Acree won the Area Speech Contest on
February 22 nd and will represent our area in the Rotary District Speech Contest in March.
Brice is a Senior at Larue County and represented
the Hodgenville Rotary Club. Five area clubs; Hodgenville, Hardin County, Radcliff, Bardstown, and Elizabethtown had high school students representing them in the area competition. Brice went on to win the District speech competition held at the District Conference in Louisville.
